A Rhode Island brewery is helping its home state bars and restaurants kick off the new season and get back to business as usual in a pretty awesome way.
FAIRHAVEN – A young percussionist is making a name for himself as he follows in his father’s prosperous footsteps… or drumbeats.
Joaquin Santos said he started playing the drums at three-years-old. Even after taking a break to pursue sports and karate, he kept being pulled back to the beat.
“They say your gift is what you feel most comfortable doing,” said Joaquin Santos. “When I started playing, I just felt that feeling of comfortability. I felt it in my heart, felt comfortable.”
And he swears it had nothing to do with the fact that his father, Jackie Santos, is a drumming rock star who has taken the stage with the likes of Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin and The Beach Boys.

The problems with immigration status and priests continue for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington as four more parishes in southwestern Vermont will be left without priests at the end of this month, according to a news release from the diocese.
The Society of Divine Vocations informed the diocese that because of an immigration issue involving one of its priests, it will no longer be able to provide pastoral coverage for these parishes:
Our Lady of Seven Dolors in Fair Haven.
St. John the Baptist in Castleton.
St. Paul in Orwell.
St. Frances Cabrini in West Pawlet.
The Society of Divine Vocations is a congregation of priests, sisters and novices formed by Father Justin Russolillo in Italy in 1920, which came to the United States in 1962.
